Rep. Guthrie: Iran is a threat to U.S. national security

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- South central Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie is reacting to Tuesday night’s airstrikes on Iraqi airbases housing troops from the United States.

The Republican sent WNKY the following statement:

“I am incredibly grateful that there were no casualties last night during the Iranian attack on U.S. troops in Iraq. Iran is a threat to our national security, and after I attended a bipartisan classified intelligence briefing this afternoon on the attack against Soleimani, I am further convinced that President Trump made the right decision to protect American lives. President Trump said that Iran appears to be standing down. I hope that Iran does stand down and that Iranian leaders make the choice to de-escalate this situation and negotiate with us. I will continue to monitor the situation with my colleagues to ensure that our great nation remains safe.”
