Reds announce Opening Day roster, begin 2024 season Thursday

CINCINNATI – The Reds are ready to roll.

The Cincinnati Reds roster release came just a day before Opening Day.

The 2024 roster will be led by young stars.

Phenom Elly De La Cruz, 22, will start at shortstop. The rookie sensation batted .235 with 13 home runs and 44 RBI. The speedster also collected 35 stolen bases in his rookie season (2023)

Jonathan India, 27, will start at second base. India batted .244 with 17 home runs and 61 RBI. The infielder shifts back to second after it was announced that infielder Matt McClain, 24, will begin the season on the IL-10.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand, 24, will start at first base. Encarnacion-Strand batted .270 with 13 home runs and 37 RBI in his rookie season (2023).

The Reds 2024 season begins Thursday at 3:10pm at Great American Ballpark with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals.
