Raccoon blows fuse in Warren County, leaving hundreds without power

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – A raccoon meddling around a substation caused a fuse to blow the morning of Oct. 16, a common occurrence for the area.

As we settle into fall, district manager Josh Poston of the Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation said animals moving around and storing food can cause outages and does semi often.

Poston estimates 30 to 40% of outages for WRECC are caused by small animals, and the cooler temperatures are typically when the company has more animal encounters.
