Purples football receives 2024 state championship rings

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. After winning the class 5A State Football Championship back in December, one local team got to add to its ring collection today.

The Bowling Green Purples were crowned back-to-back champions last season after defeating the Cooper Jaguars 37-20 at Kroger Field.

Now just a few short months later in Bowling Green’s auditorium, the team received their state champion rings after quite a memorable 12-3 2024 season.

BG also defeated the Jaguars in the title game in 2023, as this senior class now has two rings to sport from their time as a Purple.

Friends and family joined the team for the highly anticipated event and the players took in the opportunity to celebrate their season one last time.

“ Being with the team one last time really warms my heart up because we’re going off to college, work, etc.” senior AJ Woodard said. “Seeing everybody just makes me feel like I’m back home again, in that locker room, and like we’re going to play another game.”

It’s good we all get to get together for things like this,” junior Trevy Barber said. “It means a lot for us and our teammates and our coaches. It’s a big day for our community and getting everybody out here today.”
