Public meeting to be held to petition City of Bowling Green about land

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A resident of Glen Lily Road in Bowling Green is holding a public meeting to petition the city about an ATV event in the old landfill.

In early January, the Bowling Green City Commission voted to bring the Grand National Cross-Country Racing event to Bowling Green on May 16 and 17.

Gary Ausbrooks, a resident near the old landfill, is going door to door handing out fliers informing residents of the meeting that will be held Monday night at 7 at Barren River Baptist Church.

Some of his concerns include heavy traffic of trucks and trailers on the narrow roads, noise, associated risks and the zoning ordinance.

Officials from the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau say the event could have an economic impact of around $3 million.
