Preventing winter pests and wildlife in your home
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Keeping critters out of your home may not be easy, especially during the cold winter months.
Many crawlers find their way inside for warmth, because your heat may be running longer than normal during this time of year.
Jimmy Blankenship, owner of Guarantee Pest Control, tells us that seeing the animals during the winter is common and when it’s best to prepare.
He says, “All kinds of insects have moved into people’s crawl spaces and attics and things like that, in the fall of the year. They don’t see them because they’re in some kind of state of hibernation. There’s more than one kind, but they wake up because the temperature rises, they type, it’s spring, and they’ll drop down inside.”
Just because you can’t see them, that doesn’t mean they aren’t there. To keep this from happening to you, some practical steps are moving your firewood and sweeping leaves away from your home.
