Preventing fire hazards, lint build up can prove dangerous

WOODBURN, Ky. – The laundry room can end up being a fire risk if you aren’t careful, fire officials tell you to clean your dryer periodically.

News 40 spoke to Woodburn Fire Department Chief Bob Skipper who said the department responded to a dryer fire last week, causing moderate damage to the home but resulting in a complete loss of the dryer.

Skipper said homeowners should always clean out the lint trap after every load of laundry, check the exhaust vent and duct pipe often.
