UPDATE: Further details released following tractor-trailer collision in Metcalfe County

EDMONTON, Ky. – One person was hospitalized after two tractor-trailers collided in Metcalfe County on Thursday.

Edmonton-Metcalfe Volunteer Fire Department stated its units were dispatched Oct. 31 to the 2800 block of Greensburg Road for a commercial vehicle accident with injuries and one patient entrapped inside of one of the vehicles.

Upon arrival, the fire department says two tractor-trailers had collided and blocked the road.

Barren-Metcalfe EMS was already on the scene providing treatment to patients.

The fire department says it assisted to remove the driver from one of the tractor-trailers and transferred them to an ambulance.

That patient was transported by BMEMS to T.J. Samson Community Hospital ER, where he was later transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. The other driver refused EMS medical assistance, officials say.

The fire department says traffic detoured through AH Boston Road and Knob Lick Road.

The road later reopened after being cleared.
