Player of the Week: WKU men’s basketball guard Don McHenry

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU men’s basketball guard Don Mchenry earned the WKU Player of the Week honor today after a highly executed past three home outings from the senior.

Mchenry has led the team in scoring in four games this season, with his biggest numbers coming in these past two games against Seattle and Murray State.

After putting up 29 points against the Racers on Saturday, the senior racked up another 28 on Tuesday, while now leading the Tops in averaging 17.5 points a game.

His performance on Saturday earned him the Conference USA player of the week honor, McHenry’s first of the season, and after helping lead the Tops to an 86-73 victory over the Redhawks, he shared how his teammates are also to credit for helping him rack up those points.

“I think it just makes it more easier, just opened it up for me where, where I got the shots I wanted because of the other guys in the court, like Julius, they know he’s a shooter, they’re not really helping that much, it was time, they tried to pack it in a lot of stand sides, so I got to get it going for the three a little bit, and just things like that, and just the team making it easier for me to get those shots helped a lot for sure.”
