Pedestrian killed in collision in Adair County
COLUMBIA, Ky. – One person is dead and two others have serious injuries following a collision in Adair County, authorities say.
The Kentucky State Police says it responded Saturday, Oct. 19 for a two-vehicle injury collision on Greensburg Road in Adair County around 7:30 p.m.
Troopers say a preliminary investigation found a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 pickup operated by Samuel Derossett, 36, of Columbia was parked in the northbound lane of Greensburg Road facing south.
A pedestrian, Chad Pegg, 54, of Greensburg, was standing near the front of the Chevrolet, authorities say.
According to troopers, a 2010 Ford Edge driven by Norma Shirley, 74, of Columbia was traveling north on Greensburg Road when she collided with the Chevrolet and the pedestrian.
Pegg was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County coroner.
Derossett was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital, and Shirley was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. Both sustained serious injuries, according to troopers.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Fire and EMS and Adair County Rescue Squad.
The investigation is ongoing.
