Patients at Norton Children’s hospitals receive cards, gifts for Valentine’s Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Hundreds of children at Norton Children’s received cards and gifts on Valentine’s Day.

On Wednesday morning, staff delivered 2,687 valentine’s cards and 1,770 stuffed animals to patients at Norton Children’s Hospital, Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Norton Children’s Medical Center and Novak Center for Children’s Health.

During the last few weeks, Norton Children’s encouraged the community to send online cards through its website.

The deliveries today were received with giggles and warm hugs, with donations originating from across the nation.

Lena Iwu, a Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation representative, says, “For so many of our patients, being in the hospital on any holiday can be really tough. And so this is just a small way that the community can give back and show some support and show some love for our patients.”

These stuffed animals were purchased through SendAfriend. In honor of American Heart Month, 10% of those purchases will be donated to the Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation to support patients at Norton Children’s Heart Institute.
