Park City woman flown after vehicle lands upside down in pond

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A vehicle driven by a Park City woman reportedly landed upside down in a pond in Bowling Green on Sunday.

Deputy Colton Starcher with the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office says he responded around 8:30 p.m. to the area between the 7200 to 7400 block of Wingfield Church Road for a vehicle with entrapment that was overturned in a pond.

Starcher says the sheriff’s office believes the vehicle left the roadway and reached the top of a hill and traveled 100 yards down the hill before entering the roadway, overcorrecting and traveling through a yard and fence.

At one point, Starcher says a tree became stuck into the bottom of the vehicle.

During this time, Starcher says they believe the vehicle struck the bank of the pond, going airborne and landing upside down within the water. He says the vehicle was submerged except for a back portion.

The driver, identified as Haley Gertiser, 27, of Park City, was extricated from the vehicle, according to Starcher.

Starcher says Gertiser had hypothermia and a head injury following the incident.

He says she was transported by EMS to a local fire department before being flown to a hospital.

Further details have not been released at this time.
