Pair charged with robbery, accused of taking cell phone and shoes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Early Tuesday morning, Bowling Green police officers were called to 1214 Vine Street where a man said he could hear a woman screaming and another man assaulting her.
Officers first made contact with Brandi Finn, who said Elijah Shirley and Kayla Jones assaulted her at about 2:30 a.m. and again at about 5:50 a.m.
Finn told police Jones stole her cell phone and her shoes, according to arrest citations. Shirley denied involvement.
Police searched Shirley and said they found suspected methamphetamine in his pants pocket. He told police the pants were not his. Jones was wearing the shoes that Finn said we’re taken from her, citations show. Police also found a cell phone that Finn said was hers and she was able to unlock it using a pass code.
Both Shirley, 40, and Jones, 36, were charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. Warren District Judge John Brown set their bonds at $6,000.
