Out of the Darkness Walk takes place September 14th at Bowling Green Ballpark
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The annual Out of the Darkness Walk is coming up on September 14th, raising money for suicide prevention.
This is the 14th year for the event, taking place at Bowling Green Ballpark.
Registration opens at 11:30 AM, with the walk starting at 1 PM.
One of the most powerful moments involves colored beads, each color holding special meaning for participants.
“What I really like is those that pick up the green bead, which is a personal struggle. To me, if they’re showing up, picking up that green bead, then this walk is doing something, because that’s ending the stigma. They’re talking about their mental health. They’re talking about what’s going on, and they’re coming out and being seen and getting community support with that,” Chris Booker, a co-chair for the walk, says.
