Oscar Mayer Wienermobile visits Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is in Bowling Green this week, setting up shop at 180 River Place Ave.
Aug. 29 through Aug.31 of this week from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., you can “ketchup” with the professional hotdogger who pilots the vehicle.
“Pickle Pip” and “Mustard Maddie” rolled into town earlier this week to bring buns of smiles to visitors, Kentucky being their eleventh state they’ve been to in just two months.
News 40 was able to ride in the legendary hot dog, one of only six in the country, to get a first person feel of what it’s like to be in such a head turning ride. During the ride, a lot of hot dog puns were made, as well as waves given to fellow drivers and pedestrians who took pictures as the dog passed by.
We also learned some cool facts about the hotdoggers program on the way. Maddie and Pip told us that you can only be a hotdogger for one year and one time only, which makes it an exclusive group. Hotdoggers also have a training camp they must attend to be the greatest steward of the Wienermobile that they can. Maddie also clued us in on a cool tidbit about her alma mater, the University of Missouri. The school actually recruits hotdoggers, and there has always been at least one Mizzou grad in the 37 hotdogger classes Oscar Mayer has had since they started to tour the country.
You can catch the Wienermobile one last time next week as well, on Monday, Sept. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Jackson’s Orchard at 1280 Slim Island Road.
