Operation PRIDE raises its largest interstate flag yet in Bowling Green
WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – One of the main entryways into Bowling Green received a new patriotic flourish on Friday.
Operation PRIDE raised an American flag at the new welcome center for the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. This is PRIDE’s largest interstate flag at 50 by 80 feet, so tourists coming into the city by way of Cemetery Road will have no trouble finding the visitors center. The bureau says the flag represents a warm welcome for guests.
Sherry Murphy, executive director of the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, says, “The flag represents the spirit of America, and we feel like having one here at the visitor center actually will welcome our guests, because that’s the experience that they’re going to get when they’re here in Bowling Green. They’re going to have many, many welcomes. Doors are going to be opened, and they’re going to feel the love that we have for each other here in Bowling Green.”
The flag pole is 194 feet tall, and it is the 17th that Operation PRIDE has constructed. The Convention and Visitors Bureau just opened the welcome center three months ago and says that tourism has a huge impact on our area.
In 2025, visitors made an almost $500 million economic impact on Bowling Green and Warren County.
