Operation Anvil, World War II reenactment to be held in Phil Moore Park

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The sixth annual Operation Anvil kicks off tomorrow at Phil Moore Park, bringing hundreds out on Saturday morning.

Saturday, Oct. 5 will be a great time for history buffs and veterans as Honoring Our Heroes, Inc. puts on their yearly reenactment.

News 40 spoke to Rick Dickerson, president of Honoring Our Heroes, who told us that almost 200 people will be taking part in the reenactment between soldiers and nurses.

Dickerson said he recommended people get there early so they can see the presentation of colors by local JROTC students at 9 a.m., followed by the first battle at 10 a.m., with a presentation of medals by JROTC cadets to veterans after the battle.

Dickerson also said the community will have the opportunity to walk the battleground to see what life was like in the trenches of 1944, hear a lot of German thrown around and see some interesting vehicles from that period as well as a nurse triage demonstration.

Operation Anvil is free to the public.
