Operation Anvil back this weekend
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – History enthusiasts, get ready to step back in time. A unique event is coming to Bowling Green that will transport you straight to the battlefields of the 1940s.
Operation Anvil will offer a glimpse into the past with a battle reenactment, and an opportunity to learn from the soldiers reenacting the battle.
Operation Anvil is based on the fighting that occurred during Operation Dragoon in Southern France, just a few months after D-day commenced.
Warren County shares a similar geography with Southern France offering a close and accurate look into the battle tactics, and strategies of the time. One organizer says that this event is the most unique experience you can find in Bowling Green.
“We do it for living history—for our veterans of all branches and all services—and to entertain and educate the public,” said Ron Cummings, board member of Honoring Our Heroes, Inc. “This is truly the most unique event in Bowling Green. There’s a lot going on here, but you won’t find anything else quite like this.”
In addition to the reenactments, the event will include a special ceremony to honor veterans.
Operation Anvil takes place at Phil Moore Park this Saturday the 24th with the first battle starting at 10am, and the second battle taking place at 2pm.
