One Dead In Utah Police Shooting
Officers say the man crashed his car into a police cruiser, then approached officers with a weapon in hand before he was shot to death. KSL's Morgan Wolfe reports.
(KSL/NBC News) — A Utah man was shot and killed Sunday morning during an altercation with police and Utah Highway Patrol officers in Farmington.
According to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol, troopers along with the Farmington Police Department were conducting a stolen vehicle investigation when a passenger car crashed into a Farmington Police patrol vehicle.
The 29-year-old man who was driving the car reportedly exited the vehicle and advanced on officers and troopers with a weapon in his hand.
“The driver failed to respond to verbal commands and deadly force was utilized,” according to the statement.
An officer and a trooper both discharged their firearms. Officials then immediately began life-saving measures.
Investigators believe the altercation between the man and the officers is not related to the stolen vehicle incident.
