(KSL/NBC News) — A Utah man was shot and killed Sunday morning during an altercation with police and Utah Highway Patrol officers in Farmington.

According to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol, troopers along with the Farmington Police Department were conducting a stolen vehicle investigation when a passenger car crashed into a Farmington Police patrol vehicle.

The 29-year-old man who was driving the car reportedly exited the vehicle and advanced on officers and troopers with a weapon in his hand.
