Officer-involved shooting confirmed in Lexington, suspect in ‘critical condition’

UPDATE 2/4:
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police has released additional details following a reported officer-involved shooting on Tuesday in Lexington.
Authorities say a suspect, identified as 40-year-old Brooks Janzen Plemmons of Clemmons, North Carolina, remains in critical condition at Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
This follows after KSP says its Critical Incident Response Team was requested to investigate the shooting, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Troopers say they learned during a preliminary investigation that officers from the Lexington Police Department received information about an individual with outstanding felony warrants from Forsyth County in North Carolina and tried to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of Alumni Drive and Yellowstone Parkway.
During the attempted stop, authorities say three LPD officers discharged their agency issued weapons, striking Plemmons.
Plemmons was transported to Albert B. Chandler Hospital, where he remains at this time.
A gun was recovered from Plemmons’ vehicle, authorities say. Troopers say no officers were injured during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
