NWS confirms EF-2 tornado hit Christian, Todd counties

CHRISTIAN, TODD COUNTIES, Ky. – The National Weather Service Paducah has confirmed an EF-2 tornado struck the areas of Christian County and Todd County on Friday, May 16.
NWS officials say the EF-2 tornado reached a wind peak of 120 miles per hour and had a path of just over 6 miles.
Officials say the tornado struck Christian County at 6:42 p.m. and ended in Todd County around 7 minutes later at 6:49 p.m.
According to the NWS survey summary, the tornado started along along Shaw Ovil Road, causing minor damage to a couple homes, before continuing east into Todd County and crossing Highway 189. It eventually lifted to the west of Highway 181, officials say.
The NWS Paducah states the worst damage took place along Blue Hole Road, where several chicken houses were destroyed, and a mobile home was swept away.
In addition, officials say dozens of trees snapped and uprooted, with a few outbuildings sustaining damage.
The maximum width of the tornado was 200 yards, according to the NWS.
