NWS confirms at least 2 tornadoes touched down in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear released a weather update Tuesday afternoon, including the confirmation that at least two tornadoes touched down in Kentucky.
Beshear declared a state of emergency earlier Tuesday afternoon in relation to severe storms that began Monday in some parts of the Commonwealth.
According to the governor’s latest update, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Nelson County and an EF-1 tornado in Anderson County. A review is still ongoing for Mercer County.
“We have more severe weather on the way, and the most important thing we can do right now is make sure everyone has a plan to stay safe,” Beshear said. “We are thankful to those who are working to keep others informed – as well as our first responders and utility and transportation workers who are restoring power and clearing roadways.”
No injuries have been reported at this time, the governor says.
Damage has been reported in Anderson, Bath, Ballard, Bourbon, Boyd, Carter, Clark, Elliott, Fayette, Greenup, Kenton, Jefferson, Jessamine, Mercer, Montgomery, Nelson, Powell, Union and Woodford counties.
Currently, the governor says over 30,000 are without power.
