Nighttime bike safety tips

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The end of daylight saving time is approaching, and you might notice that it’s becoming a little difficult to see bike riders as it gets darker outside.

If you’re cycling in the early mornings or even in the evenings. It’s important to be properly prepared. There are some obvious ways for you to remain safe while riding your bike like riding on roads with less traffic, but there are other steps you can take that make riding at night safer. At Bike Walk BG their goal when it comes to cycling at night is to ensure the safety of the drivers and the cyclist.

According to the Bike Walk BG Coordinator, Karrissa Lemon, “That’s where I would encourage not just cyclists to be safe because it’s we share the road with motorists and so a cyclist, we can take those precautions to use our lights to wear a helmet and to do all of those necessary things.”

Karrissa also shares that there are more ways for you to stay safe by taking certain trails or streets and by doing community rides. To learn more bike safety tips visit https://www.warrenpc.org/bike-ped/resources/
