New texting service for communication with Edmonson County residents
BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- To better communicate with the residents of Edmonson County, a new program called TextMyGov has been set up. Users can access information on different things around the county, like the library or parks and recreation, and they can also report issues, like trees down or potholes.
Users will receive county messages and can also sign up for messages specific to the district they live in. Administrators will use this service to send messages to the entire county when there is important information to relay.
Judge Executive of Edmonson County, Scott Lindsey, says, “We had a tornado watch earlier in the week and I was able to send that information out via TextMyGov. And about 10 minutes after I sent it, I was getting text messages, personal text messages, from friends of mine who have already signed up for the program, and they were sending me text messages back saying “Man, this is great.” There is really no ceiling on what we can communicate.”
The program is consistent and reaches a mass of people, both county-wide and district-specific. To enroll in the service and receive messages, you can text the word “Hi” to 270-975-2775. To find more information on further steps of enrollment, you can visit the Edmonson County website here.
