New director for Ramsey Theatre Company, Diane DiCroce joins the community
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – From Pittsburgh to New York to Bowling Green, she’s bringing ambition and experience to the director’s chair.
After consulting on the Ramsey Theatre Company production of Cinderella, Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center board members asked Diane DiCroce if she would be interested in working for the theatre full time.
DiCroce is a well accomplished actress, participating in New York and Broadway for the last 30 years. She’s been in “My Fair Lady,” “Les Miserables” and other notable productions throughout the years but has now set her sights on Bowling Green.
News 40 spoke with DiCroce, who said the city is “just so nice” when asked why a smaller area, such as Bowling Green. The artistic director said that everyone she’s met has been kind and genuine, being a big draw for her and her husband.
Not only does she act, she also educates in various ways, so to come to a theatre in the community has, as she said, “brought together everything that I’ve done in my life so far, and that’s pretty cool.”
She said in her speech on Tuesday that she’s excited to take Ramsey Theatre Company to new heights both in the community, regionally and nationally. She also wants to make more opportunities for young people, like the three recent Western Kentucky University graduates who are now fully employed.
Lea Schenk, who just graduated in Spring 2024 from the theater program, said she’s excited for this season. Schenk said she’s all about getting more people involved in theater and ready to see that “light that is so rare in peoples’ eyes.”
The production stage manager told us that her passion is to watch people shine on the stage and is excited to see what the coming months will hold.
