Nearly 60 dogs rescued from hoarding situation in Hart County

HART COUNTY, Ky. – Around 60 dogs are safe after being rescued from a hoarding and breeding operation in Hart County.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office says multiple agencies organized by the Hart County Animal Shelter worked to rescue the animals around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials say the breeding facility located off of Tommy Toms Road is now shut down.

The nonprofit Animal Rescue Corps says the dogs have been subjected to chronic neglect, with most living on heavy chains.

The nonprofit says the animals did not have access to adequate food, water, shelter or medical care for injuries and illness. At least two of the dogs are pregnant, ARC says.

Details surrounding the dogs’ transfer locations are developing. We will continue to provide updates as information is released.
