Moving over for first responders

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –  It’s the law, as well as a big safety concern – moving over if possible for emergency vehicles.

News 40 spoke to Bowling Green Fire Department, as well as Med Center Emergency Medical Services, about the importance of making way for emergency vehicles.

Both BGFD and Med Center EMS told us that as the lights come on and the horns sound, trying to give them room should be a priority for all drivers.

Responders said, of course, it can be hard to hear the sirens with how well cars are made today, so you should always keep an eye out for lights as another way of grabbing your attention.

Sometimes conditions don’t allow for you to move over to the right, but you should always slow down when near an emergency vehicle in active response.
