Morgantown man charged with assault of a police officer

MORGANTOWN, Ky. – A Morgantown man was arrested Monday on multiple charges.
According to a social media post by Morgantown police chief Giles Taylor, an officer responded to Kent Manor for a call about someone under the influence.
When police arrived, they say they arrested the individual, identified as Ryan Embry, 40, on an active warrant.
However, police say when Embry was placed in handcuffs, he grabbed the officer’s holstered firearm and tried to remove it.
Embry faces charges of first-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree assault of a police officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and attempted theft of a firearm.
Embry was transported to the Butler County Jail.
