EDMONTON, Ky. – Metcalfe County Schools is celebrating student Lucy Blythe, who has been recognized as a 2026 “America’s Field Trip” Awardee.

According to the district, the contest is nationwide, inviting students in grades three through 12 to reflect on the question, “What does America mean to you?”

This year’s America’s Field Trip awardees are from 42 states, three U.S. territories and Washington, D.C., the district says.

Metcalfe County Schools says first place winners will travel to one of 16 trip experiences this summer, while second-place winners, including Blythe, will each receive a $500 cash award and America250 gear.

“We are extremely proud of Lucy,” MCMS art teacher Nikki Jolly said. “To be one of only three students in the entire state of Kentucky selected as an awardee is an incredible honor. Lucy is a talented artist and an all-around excellent student. Her hard work and dedication shine through her craft. She is truly a joy to have in class, and I am honored to be her teacher. This is a well-deserved recognition.”

Lucy is the 13-year-old daughter of Jeff and Ashley Blythe of Edmonton.

“America’s Field Trip gives students a national platform to reflect on our country in their own words, through their own creativity and from the communities they call home,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “As we prepare to commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary, these students remind us that America’s story is something each generation helps shape.”
