Metcalfe County Educational Foundation celebrated with ribbon cutting

EDMONTON, Ky. – Metcalfe County School District staff and alumni gathered to celebrate the creation of a foundation.

The new nonprofit will collect charitable donations to advance opportunities for students. The Metcalfe County Educational Foundation has been a long time goal for community leaders who studied other similar organizations before crafting one specifically for local needs.

Benny Lile, president of the Metcalfe County Educational Foundation, says, “We hope that today is just the first day of bigger and better things. The foundation will continue to grow, we’ll gain donors as we go through and as people open to charitable giving ever more, we’ll be able to do more and more for the students of the county. And we hope that is a never ending task.”

The foundation will emphasize talent identification particularly for underserved students, civic engagement, and scholarships. The endeavor hopes to serve students who might not otherwise have opportunities outside of the regular school day and make a lasting impact on not only students but the community as a whole.
