Metcalfe County Conservation District gives away trees
METCALFE COUNTY, Ky.- For at least 20 years, the Soil Conservation Office has brought awareness to soil conservation through trees.
Metcalfe County Conservation District is giving away native trees to increase the native tree population.
The county’s conservation district is teaching people about the many benefits of soil, and how trees play a pivotal role when it comes to maintaining the quality of soil.
Lasasha Grissom the Conservation Clerk in the Metcalfe County District tells us, “A lot of people might not realize that there are some trees here in Kentucky and even in our community that are not native, that are growing here, that have been here for many, many years, but they’re not native, so while we seem to have a good handle on the population, we also want to keep those native trees going.”
The tree giveaway for Metcalfe County residents is next Friday, March 22nd. The giveaway will be at 100 Scott Drive, Edmonton from 8 a.m. until they are gone.
