Med Center staying afloat amid IV fluid shortage

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With the Baxter’s plant in North Carolina severely damaged by Hurricane Helene, some hospitals have experienced an IV fluid shortage.

Baxter is a company that provides IV fluids, irrigation solutions and other medical supplies, with one of the global company’s plants shut down until early 2025.

Med Center’s chief medical officer, Dr. William Moss, told News 40 that right now, there are no disruptions to their daily operations.

Moss said Med Center’s IV fluids largely come from B. Braun, who is responding to the shortage. Moss told us that while they have a smaller allocation of supplies from Braun, regular customer Med Center is receiving enough supplies to proceed as normal.
