Med Center Health hosts flag raising to honor Donate Life Month

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local tribute brought awareness to how organ donations can save lives.

On Friday, April 26, Med Center Health hosted a flag raising ceremony to thank and honor all of those that have donated. April is Donate Life Month, and Med Center Health wants to help raise awareness about the impact of organ donors.

According to Med Center Health, there are currently more than 100,000 people on the national transplant waiting list, with more than 1,000 people in Kentucky waiting. Each day, health officials say 17 of those people die while waiting for an organ transplant.

A single donor can save eight lives, while enhancing 75 others, health officials say.
