Man dies in Butler County accident involving motorcycle

ROUNDHILL, Ky. – KSP said one man is dead following a fatal accident involving several motorcycles and a tractor on Sunday.

On May 8 around 12:20 a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 was requested by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fatal collision. KSP troopers responded to the location of the crash near the 4800 block of Reedyville Road in Butler County.

KSP said an investigation revealed that three motorcycles were traveling on Reedyville Road near the 4800 block, including a 2003 silver Harley Davidson being operated by Teddy Duke, 35, of Morgantown, a 2000 red Honda motorcycle being operated by James Shepherd, 34, of Jetson and a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle being operated by Jeremy Fegett, 39, of Caneyville.

Fegett passed the other motorcyclists, at which point they lost sight of him, according to police. Fegett continued southbound on Reedyville Road when his motorcycle made contact with a 2012 John Deere Tractor and rotary cutter implement being operated by Carlos Hopper, 34, of Bowling Green. KSP said Fegett was thrown from his motorcycle and was struck by both Duke’s and Shepherd’s motorcycles.

Fegett was pronounced dead on the scene by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

Duke and Shepherd were arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
