Man dead after armed confrontation with state police

A Bremen man is dead after police said he brandished a firearm at them.

At 8:49 a.m. Kentucky State Police received a call to assist to the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office on a terroristic threatening complaint on Park Street in Bremen.

Two uniformed KSP Troopers Rob Austin and Justin Cornett responded, along with Muhlenberg County Deputy Jeremy Rose and Central City Police Officer Duane Davenport. 

The responding officers encountered Christopher L. Anderson, 46, of Bremen, who was inside a car in a private driveway at 60 Park Street, according to a release from state police.  Anderson exited his vehicle, brandishing a firearm and a confrontation ensued with multiple shots being fired. 

Responding officers shot Anderson dead, according to the release. None of the law enforcement officers were injured.

Troopers Austin and Cornett have been placed on routine administrative leave pending investigation by KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team.
