Man dead after allegedly pointing firearm at deputies in Logan County

LEWISBURG, Ky. – One man is dead after authorities say he pointed a weapon at deputies in Logan County on Wednesday.

According to a release by the Kentucky State Police, troopers were requested just before 1 a.m. by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Lewisburg.

Through a preliminary investigation, authorities say they learned two LCSO deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance at a residence on Lewisburg-Edwards Road. During this time, troopers say a male at the residence was identified by a deputy as being wanted on an active arrest warrant.

Troopers say at one point, the male subject pointed a firearm in the direction of deputies.

The release states a LCSO deputy then fired their agency-issued firearm, striking the male subject.

The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County Coroner’s Office. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.
