Man charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer

GLASGOW, Ky. – On Friday, the Glasgow Police Department arrested a Cave City man on several charges including wanton endangerment of a police officer.

Glasgow police attempted to make a traffic stop for a vehicle on West Main Street when police said the driver, David Smith of Cave City, stopped the vehicle for a short time then took off again at a high rate of speed, according to a release

Officers were able to find the vehicle at a residence in Cave City and Smith was taking into custody.

Smith was arrested and is facing several reckless driving related charges including disregarding a traffic light, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, speeding 26 mph or more over the speed limit.

The arrest was made by the combined efforts of the Glasgow Police Department and the Cave City Police Department.
