Man charged with rape involving minor

James William Thomas Brown

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man is behind bars after a sexual assault investigation involving a minor.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Medical Center at Bowling Green on Dec. 10 in reference to a sexual assault, according to a citation. Police say the response to the hospital was not directly related to James William Thomas Brown but sparked an investigation into him.

Police say the victim, an 8-year-old child, said they were 7 years old at the time of the incident.

According to the citation, the child told police Brown had “touched “them and had sexual intercourse with them.

On Dec. 21, the WCSO interviewed Brown, who they say stated these allegations were “false” and denied sexual intercourse. However, police say he admitted to being alone with the victim and several other children when “the other adults are at work.”

Brown, 31, of Cottontown, Tennessee was arrested and is in the Warren County Detention Center, where he faces four counts of first-degree rape of a victim under 12 years of age.

Police say further charges are possibly pending.
