Man charged with DUI after wreck breaks utility pole
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man is facing charges related to a wreck Tuesday on State Street and 12th Avenue in Bowling Green.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department received multiple calls about a hit-and-run.
Police state they arrived at the scene and observed a Bowling Green Municipal Utilities pole that had been struck at the bottom, knocking it out of the sidewalk. The top was also snapped in half, according to the uniform citation.
One witness described a black GMC truck in the incident, according to police.
Police state they located a battery and trail of fluid going down State Street toward downtown.
The uniform citation states police followed the trail of fluid to Eastwood Street, where they located a black GMC Sierra in the ditch.
According to police, Logan Lehnert, 37, of Caneyville, Kentucky was located in the driver’s seat and stated that he was intoxicated.
Lehnert was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green and later taken to the Warren County Detention Center.
He faces charges of first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, and leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance.
