Man charged with DUI after collision in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is facing charges after allegedly crashing while driving under the influence in Bowling Green.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded to a reported injury crash on Veterans Memorial Lane at Stonehenge Avenue.
Upon making contact with 25-year-old Rodrigo Callejas Nava, authorities say he admitted to recently drinking alcohol.
Police say there were several beer cans within and outside of the vehicle.
Authorities say Callejas Nava was arrested and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for a blood draw and medical clearance. He was then transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.
Police say the driver of the other vehicle that Callejas Nava’s vehicle had hit had serious injuries, along with Callejas Nava’s front seat passenger.
According authorities, dash cam footage later showed Callejas Nava’s vehicle running a red light on Veterans Memorial Lane at a very high rate of speed before colliding with the other vehicle, which had a green light.
Callejas Nava remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, no operators license, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, reckless driving and disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light.
