Man charged with drug trafficking following traffic stop

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Allen County.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop Sunday around 8:30 p.m. on Maysville Road.

Police say a probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing methamphetamine and another plastic bag containing marijuana, which police say was possessed by passenger Joseph Sharp.

According to authorities, during a search incident to arrest, they additionally found a pouch in the waistband of Sharp’s pants with two bags of methamphetamine.

In total, police say they seized about 19 grams of methamphetamine. As a result, Sharp was arrested and taken to the Allen County Detention Center.

He is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (greater than 2 grams of methamphetamine) and possession of marijuana.
