Man arrested in Logan County after investigation into counterfeit fentanyl pills

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A man is facing charges after authorities say they found several hundred suspected counterfeit fentanyl pills in Logan County.
On Tuesday, the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force says agents, Logan County deputies and Russellville police did a buy and bust operation, discovering 255 of the suspected counterfeit fentanyl pills in the vehicle of 54-year-old Anthony Johnson of Elkton, Kentucky.
Johnson was arrested and taken to the Logan County Detention Center.
He faces charges of aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance (greater than or equal to 28 grams of fentanyl), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and first-degree possession of drug paraphernalia.
Agents say fentanyl pills have caused multiple overdose deaths in Simpson County and Logan County.
The investigation is ongoing.
