Man arrested after allegedly holding WKU employee at gunpoint
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man is facing charges after police say a woman leaving work on campus at Western Kentucky University said the man pointed a gun at her.
According to a uniform citation, WKU officers and Bowling Green police responded Wednesday afternoon around 5 p.m. to the 300 block of University Boulevard after receiving a call that a man in a golf cart had pointed a gun at a woman.
At the scene, police say they approached a WKU work truck that the suspect had entered, where they gave commands for the man to exit the vehicle.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Jason Findley, got out of the vehicle while holding a gun, the uniform citation states. Police say Findley would not follow commands to drop the firearm.
Police say a standoff took place for around 15 minutes, eventually ending when Findley dropped the weapon.
The uniform citation states police spoke to the caller, who said she heard someone in a golf cart after walking out of work before Findley later threatened to shoot her.
Findley was arrested and faces first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, third degree terroristic threatening, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), resisting arrest, promoting contraband and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
He remains at the Warren County Detention Center as of Wednesday night with no bond.
