BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An iconic place in south-central Kentucky has reached its 83rd birthday.

Mammoth Cave National Park turned 83 on Monday.

The park was established on July 1, 1941 and has been a popular destination since.

It’s home of the longest cave system in the world, and the full park spans over 50,000 acres.

Instead of birthday candles this year, rangers decided to light some lanterns to celebrate the occasion.
