Mammoth Cave National Park to host river cleanup next week

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. – Next weekend, you can help care for Mammoth Cave National Park.
In honor of the 9/11 National Day of Service, volunteers are invited to gather and help clean up along the Green and Nolin Rivers National Water Trail on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The cleanup is set to start at 7:30 a.m.
Park officials say removing litter can help improve water quality, restore natural beauty and reduce possible health threats.
Two separate trips will take volunteers to clean the Dennison Ferry to the Green River section or to clean from the Green River Ferry to the Houchin Ferry. Officials say the first option may take four to five hours, while the second option could take seven to eight hours.
Participants must have experience with canoeing and/or kayaking to participate.
