Mammoth Cave National Park to conduct safety and sobriety checkpoints

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. — Mammoth Cave National Park law enforcement will be conducting periodic safety and sobriety checkpoints on park roads and riverways throughout the remainder of the year.
That’s according to a release by Mammoth Cave National Park on Monday.
Park officials say the checkpoints are aimed at identifying drivers and boat operators who may be impaired by drugs or alcohol, addressing vehicle or equipment safety issues or confirming valid driver licensing.
According to the park, these efforts can help reduce impaired driving incidents and raise awareness about the dangers of operating a vehicle or boat under the influence.
During checkpoint operations, officers will briefly contact drivers and boaters to check for signs of impairment and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
The park says these operations will be done as efficiently as possible.
