MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. – Mammoth Cave National Park wants to hear from the public about a proposed increase in some fees.

According to the park, these would include cave tour, camping rate and electric vehicle charging fees.

To see further information on the potential fee increase, including a list of all proposed fees, you can review and comment on the park’s Planning, Environment, and Public Comment website from Monday, June 26 to Friday, July 28.

Within the next year, the park says visitors can expect EV charging stations to be installed in the visitor center.

At least 80% of the fees collected at the park fund projects that address maintenance needs, enhance visitor programs and services, protect resources and improve and rehabilitate visitor facilities, while 20% helps support projects in other National Park Service units that do not charge entrance fees, Mammoth Cave says.

Mammoth Cave says recreational fees are collected in the park under the 2004 Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. The park says it keeps fees in line with private operators and must not over or under charge for tours and visitor amenities.
