Magnetic ball toy recalled for choking hazard

(CNN) – If you plan on Christmas shopping this weekend, federal safety regulators want to warn parents about a new toy recall.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled more than 700 units of colorful metal magnetic balls from XpressGoods.
Consumers should immediately remove them from their child’s reach and contact the company for a refund.
The agency says if swallowed, the magnetic balls can attract to each other and become lodged in the digestive system.
This can result in perforations, blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and even death.
The CPSC estimates there were 2,400 emergency room visits from 2017 through 2021 due to people swallowing small, magnetic balls.
Seven deaths were reported, with five being in the U.S.
The CPSC also issued several warnings Thursday for similar high-powered magnetic balls from six other companies.
They include Allyre, Sunny House, MingTai Trade, Magic QQ, Carrara and Splish Splash Fun.
Most were sold on Temu.
