Louisville home to be burned after hazardous materials found inside, officials say

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A public tip led police to a home in Louisville, where hazardous materials were found. And now city officials say the house will have to be set on fire in order to render the property safe.
Louisville Metro police began their investigation on Applegate Lane when someone reported the home last week.
Investigators say Marc Hibel was keeping hazardous materials inside the house for some length of time.
Hibel was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.
A news conference was held Tuesday morning, where mayor Craig Greenberg announced that he issued an emergency declaration, and it is believed there is no immediate threat to the community.
After consulting with experts, Greenberg said the next step is to incinerate the chemicals safely in a controlled burn. He said the home is under constant surveillance.
