Lost & Found: Dog Spends Three Years On The Run

A Texas family is celebrating the unexpected return of their long lost dog, Maddie, who disappeared just days before Hurricane Harvey struck in 2017. KPRC Re'Chelle Turner reports.

(KPRC/NBC News) A family in New Caney, Texas is whole again.

The Kosters lost their dog, Maddie, more than three years ago. She disappeared as the family was going through a move, and just days before Hurricane Harvey struck.

“We had a friend here to help me unpack and we think she went out with my friend because we looked for her after that point and couldn’t find her,” Rachel Koster says.

The Kosters continued to search for months and started losing hope of finding Maddie.

“After you search for so long, you just assume the worst,” Rachel says.

Earlier this week, Rachel’s mother called her and said someone knew where Maddie was.
